Altman criticized for wasting idle personal computer memory, mocked and renamed "Ram Altman"

The incident originated from an interview on October 29. Altman complained about the tight global memory supply, but a large amount of DRAM is sitting in personal computers, used only about 5% of the time. He felt this was simply wasting scarce resources and believed that centralizing memory in cloud data centers would allow for more full utilization.

Netizens immediately joked that Altman wanted all the world's memory. Musk also posted a meme mocking people for "hoarding memory" in their computers.

Today, a netizen simply suggested that Altman change his name to "Ram Altman." After replying "ok yeah," he actually changed it.

However, Altman later explained that he actually hopes for a significant increase in global memory production so that everyone can install as much memory as they want in their computers.

Regarding his words being taken out of context, he directly cursed, "fucking annoying."
