US Democrats win both chambers of Congress; Israeli opposition seizes the opportunity to demand Netanyahu step down.

November 4: In the U.S. midterm elections, the Democratic Party won control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu immediately faced fierce criticism from domestic political opponents. The opposition accused him of long-term open support for the Republican Party, damaging Israel's traditional support between the two American parties, and using the election results to push for the formation of a new government without Netanyahu.

Israeli center-left opposition leader Yair Golan said the election results reflect that Netanyahu has a negative impact within both the Democratic and Republican parties in the United States. Centrist leader Yair Lapid warned that Netanyahu's continued rule would endanger Israel's security and its international standing.

U.S.-Israel relations may also face new pressure. After the Democratic Party controls Congress, it may pressure Israel through hearings, oversight investigations, and budget measures. Previously, support within the Democratic Party for Israel's military operations and U.S. aid to Israel had already loosened, and Trump's joint military action with Netanyahu against Iran further intensified this trend. At the same time, Israeli President Herzog plans to meet with representatives of various parties on Wednesday and Thursday to launch the process of forming a new government. Netanyahu currently remains in office as caretaker prime minister.
