Anthropic still plans to launch its IPO before Thanksgiving, with a valuation of up to $1.75 trillion and plans to raise $80 billion to $100 billion.
November 7 - According to a report by the UK's Financial Times, despite a sharp sell-off in tech stocks, Anthropic still plans to proceed with its initial public offering (IPO) before Thanksgiving in the United States, expecting to raise $80 billion to $100 billion, with a target valuation range of $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion, and a market-expected midpoint of about $1.5 trillion, lower than the $2 trillion some investors had previously hoped for.
Informed investors said Anthropic still wants to list as planned, even if it needs to accept a lower valuation. The company's third-quarter revenue grew nearly 50% to about $17 billion, and its latest annualized revenue run rate (ARR) is about $81 billion, up from $65 billion at the end of July.
At the same time, Anthropic plans to invest about $900 billion over the next few years in computing power and infrastructure, and currently has nearly $150 billion in cash and liquid investments on its books. JPMorgan is expected to hold a related briefing for potential investors on November 13.
The recent sell-off in the AI sector, regulatory hurdles facing data center construction, and OpenAI's downward revision of its fundraising target have all put greater market pressure on Anthropic's listing.
