Binance France to close user accounts on December 31, maintenance fees to be charged on retained assets starting November 29.
November 8 - Binance France has sent emails to users announcing the closure of accounts on December 31, 2026. The email states that due to the orderly cessation of business, if crypto assets are not withdrawn by then, this notice will be deemed to treat the account as inactive under the terms of use and may result in the conversion, transfer, or other handling of assets. To avoid fees, users must complete withdrawals by November 29. From that date, if there are still balances in the accounts, a monthly maintenance fee of 0.025% of the balance will be charged, with a minimum of 10 USDC.
Previously, Binance failed to obtain MiCA authorization outside EU member states before the July 1 deadline and notified EU users in late June that key services would be restricted. A Binance spokesperson responded that after the MiCA transition period ends, it is gradually restricting some services for affected users in accordance with previously communicated arrangements. When asked whether users in Spain and Belgium also received similar emails, the spokesperson declined to comment.
