Qian Zhimin's 60,000 Bitcoin Case Takes Another Turn: UK High Court Grants Chinese Victims Permission to Appeal

Oct 21, 17:01

On October 21, citing Caixin, just four days after the UK High Court ruled that the property rights dispute over more than 60,000 bitcoins in the Qian Zhimin case should be governed by Chinese law, approximately 16,000 Chinese victims participating in the UK recovery effort have been given the opportunity to continue challenging that ruling. The UK High Court has held another hearing, and the judge granted the Chinese victims permission to appeal the October 12 choice-of-law ruling. Lawyers for all parties also discussed litigation costs arising from the earlier choice-of-law dispute, whether the approximately 16,000 individual applicants will continue their recovery claims, and how to withdraw, among other issues.
