Dragonfly Partner Challenges DFINITY's Infringement Claim: Relevant Patent Was Only Approved in Late July

Oct 25, 17:38

October 25 — Dragonfly partner Haseeb Qureshi published a post responding to DFINITY founder Dominic Williams' earlier allegation that NEAR Intents used threshold ECDSA signature technology without authorization. Screenshots of the relevant patent application that he shared show that the patent was only approved in late July this year and had previously remained in "patent application" status, while NEAR Intents modified the relevant algorithm in September this year. Qureshi added that, if it is indeed as Dominic Williams himself stated, the alleged patent infringement may involve only about one month, and that the algorithm was originally published in an academic paper under a CC BY license, which NEAR also cited in its implementation.
