Solana Co-Founder Proposes Stake-Weighted Validator Oracle to Explore New Pricing Mechanism for Tokenized Assets
October 25 — Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko (Toly) proposed in an October 24 post on X an idea to use Solana validators to build an oracle that allocates say according to stake weight, providing price assessments for tokenized assets and using such assets as collateral. Under the concept, validators would take part in price determinations based on the amount of SOL staked with them, and profits generated by the mechanism could be taxed to add revenue for the Solana network.
However, the idea remains at the concept stage and is not a formal governance proposal; there is currently no clear implementation timeline or governance vote arrangement. If implemented in the future, the mechanism could introduce a native alternative to Solana's existing oracle networks, but it also involves changes to supply from SOL issuance, as well as potential conflicts of interest and manipulation risks arising from validators participating in the pricing of collateral.
