Oct 28, 09:21

October 28 — According to Yonhap via Reuters, three South Korean financial institutions reported data breaches on Wednesday. Crypto exchange Bithumb said its internal mobile system was hacked, exposing personal information, and it is investigating whether member data was included. Brokerage Daishin Securities said about 38,000 pieces of customer information were leaked and that it has taken emergency measures. Asset manager Mirae Asset Global Investments also confirmed a hacking incident, with authorities assessing the situation. Spokespeople for all three companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The incidents follow a wave of hacking attacks on South Korean financial institutions. Earlier this month, South Korea's Financial Services Commission said 16 South Korean financial institutions, including banks, were attacked, resulting in about 100,000 data breaches so far.
