October 28: According to Solid Intel, Russia requires Apple and Microsoft to store user data for three years and to provide it when security agencies request it. Russia's Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) has added both companies to its register of "organizers of information dissemination." If the two companies refuse to cooperate with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), they may face heavy fines and could ultimately be blocked within Russia.
