Fed's Logan: At Least Two More 25-Basis-Point Rate Hikes Needed

Oct 31, 01:53

Oct. 31 — Reuters reported that Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan, a 2026 FOMC voting member, said in remarks at Davidson College that the Fed needs at least two more rate hikes of 25 basis points each; skipping a meeting would not change the policy's ultimate goal, and pausing after a cumulative 50 basis points of hikes would allow policymakers to assess the next step. Logan said inflation's failure to fall back to the 2% target is "unacceptable," and the current 3.75%–4.00% rate range is insufficient to achieve the inflation target. This week the Fed held rates steady by a 10-2 vote, and Logan voted in favor.
