Design platform Canva announces restructuring, about 22% of employee roles affected

Nov 4, 06:52

November 4: According to Forbes Australia, online design platform Canva has announced a restructuring involving 1,271 roles, about 22% of its more than 5,000 employees, with the affected roles to be eliminated, adjusted or relocated. In an internal memo, Canva CEO Melanie Perkins said the company's growth has slowed for the first time in a decade and that this year has been its "hardest year." The restructuring will merge the product, growth and platform teams, with Sydney becoming the core product hub; starting in January next year, most employees will need to be in the office 2 to 3 days a week, and departing employees will receive at least 6 months' salary compensation. Bloomberg also reported the matter.
