Zcash Community Grants Committee Withdraws Proposal to Reallocate 98,000 ZEC

Nov 4, 16:08

November 4: According to CoinDesk, the Zcash Community Grants Committee (ZCG) has withdrawn a proposal submitted on October 29 that would have reallocated approximately 98,000 ZEC for future mining rewards. After community opposition, ZCG decided not to move forward with the proposal, and future fund allocation should be decided through Zcash's regular governance process.

ZCG receives an 8% share of newly minted ZEC, and its treasury is already sufficient to support its work for years. Combined with spending controversy over its earlier funding of the ZECsy project, community doubts about the continued inflow of funds have intensified. Currently, Sean Bowe, Zooko Wilcox and Daira-Emma Hopwood have each proposed different funding reform plans, but none has been approved. ZCG still collects about 144 ZEC per day until a network upgrade changes the rules.
