Apple lowers employees' daily AI usage budgets, with some engineers' cap cut to $200

Nov 5, 04:22

Nov 5 — According to Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter said Apple quietly lowered the daily budget cap for some engineers using AI models from $300 to $200 last month, and plans to reduce some engineering teams further to $100; many teams outside the engineering department already have a daily cap of $100, and some teams may be cut to $25, with employees needing higher amounts able to apply to senior management for an exemption. Apple declined to comment. The report said Apple employees can use AI services such as Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, and that companies including Microsoft, Tesla and Meta are also tightening internal AI spending.
