Polygon Community Proposes Hard Fork to Recover Approximately 70.49 Million POL

Nov 5, 04:17

On November 5 that, according to a Polygon community forum proposal, community members have proposed executing a hard fork on the Polygon PoS mainnet to transfer native POL tokens from five blocked attack addresses to recovery addresses designated by Polymarket and Binance.

The proposal states that these addresses hold approximately 70.49 million POL tokens, of which about 23.86 million are related to Polymarket events and approximately 46.63 million are related to Binance events. The proposed operation would zero out the balances of the relevant addresses and credit an equivalent amount of tokens to the recovery addresses, keeping the total supply unchanged.

The plan requires approval through the Polygon governance process, with the activation block and client version yet to be determined. The proposal is scheduled to be presented at the protocol governance meeting on November 5 at 22:30 Beijing Time.
