Ethereum Foundation: Fork-by-Fork Roadmap to Achieve Lean Ethereum Goal Is Now in Place

Nov 5, 09:32

November 5 — The Ethereum Foundation posted on X that its "Strawmap" sets the goal of achieving Lean Ethereum by 2029, and that a plan for advancing fork by fork has now been formulated. H* will be the last fork that does not include Lean features; I* will introduce leanVM and Lean transactions; J* will add Lean proofs, data availability sampling and PCS; by stage L, Lean Ethereum will be complete.

It is understood that Lean Ethereum is a long-term protocol restructuring vision and roadmap proposed after Ethereum entered its second decade. Its core goals are: without sacrificing decentralization and security, to streamline the protocol and eliminate redundancy by "traveling light," substantially improve performance, address the threat of quantum computing, and rebuild the underlying technology stack.
