Mercado Pago Suspends Cryptocurrency Transfers, Deposits to Be Credited With Delay

November 7 — According to Brazilian newspaper Valor Econômico, Mercado Pago, the payments arm of Latin American giant Mercado Libre, notified users in-app on Friday that due to system instability it is temporarily unable to process cryptocurrency transfers and that deposits will also be credited with delay, adding that it is working on a fix. On the same day, Brazilian digital bank Nubank also suspended crypto deposits and withdrawals due to a failure at an external data service provider, but said other crypto services such as buying and selling are operating normally and that customer assets and information remain protected. Neither institution has confirmed whether the failures share the same cause.
