On November 7, according to an announcement by the Central Bank of Russia, the bank has determined that cryptocurrency assets permissible for purchase by non-qualified investors include Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT. The relevant regulations will take effect on November 17, at which time exchanges will be allowed to publicly trade these assets.
Non-qualified investors may purchase these assets on- and off-exchange through brokers, asset management institutions, or crypto exchange platforms, subject to an annual purchase limit of 300,000 rubles per intermediary. Qualified investors are not subject to purchase limits for cryptocurrency assets; all investors must pass a test and understand investment risks prior to trading.
