Elon Musk: Tesla and SpaceX Will Build and Operate Terafab Themselves, TSMC May Only Lease Out Part of Its Capacity

On October 7, according to Reuters, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated that Tesla and SpaceX will build and operate the Terafab AI chip factory in Texas themselves, with TSMC potentially leasing only portions of it at most.

Last week, Musk had said that both sides have discussed potential cooperation on the Terafab project, but in his latest response on the X platform to claims that "the most likely outcome is that TSMC will own and operate the factory," he stated, "No, we will build and operate this factory, and there should be no doubt about it." Musk added that TSMC "could perhaps lease part of Terafab, but nothing more."
