TSMC Q3 Revenue Up 50% as AI Demand Remains Strong

Oct 8, 14:05

On Oct. 8, TSMC (TSM.N) announced on Thursday that driven by strong growth in AI application demand, its third-quarter revenue reached NT$1.49 trillion (approximately $46.71 billion), up 50% year-over-year and setting a new record high, surpassing market expectations of NT$1.46 trillion. TSMC's robust sales growth has reinforced market expectations for AI demand. Investors had previously faced challenges such as rising debt levels, regulatory hurdles, and calls from OpenAI and Anthropic PBC to slow the pace of emerging technology development.

AMD (AMD.O) CEO Lisa Su stated this week that the company expects chip demand to continue growing significantly in the coming years; meanwhile, Samsung Electronics reported a nearly ninefold surge in operating profit. AI server assembler Foxconn's quarterly sales figures released this week also exceeded market expectations. A key focus at TSMC's third-quarter earnings briefing will center on the outlook for 2027 and beyond; pricing is another major focus, with Taiwanese media reporting that TSMC's wafer prices may rise by 3% to 6% in 2027.
