HSBC and Ant Digital Technology test AI agent tokenized payments
On Oct 10 that, according to Cointelegraph, British banking giant HSBC and Ant Digital Technologies successfully tested a system that allows AI agents to access digital services and make payments using tokenized bank deposits, with transactions settled in real time via a blockchain testnet.
This technical demonstration integrated HSBC’s tokenized deposit service, Ant Digital’s Anvita Flow network, and the Jovay Testnet Layer 2 blockchain environment. Within this architecture, HSBC provides settlement capabilities and real-time risk control checks, while Ant Digital’s network coordinates AI agents in locating services and executing payment operations. The results showed that the AI agent successfully selected specific digital services and completed micropayments typically defined as under $2.
Companies involved in the testing stated in a Friday announcement that the experiment was primarily for technological feasibility verification and does not mark the official start of commercialization or the rollout of public customer service solutions. Although it demonstrated the potential of combining decentralized finance infrastructure with traditional banking in automated payment scenarios, it remains in a closed testing phase.
