Galaxy Research Head of Research: Over Half of BTC Supply Remains Self-Custodied by Individuals; Institutionalization Trend Has Not Changed the Decentralized Landscape

On October 14, Alex Thorn, Head of Research at Galaxy Research (@intangiblecoins), noted that despite recent trends toward the institutionalization and concentration of Bitcoin holdings, more than half of the BTC supply currently remains held in addresses with unknown ownership, meaning that a significant amount of Bitcoin (possibly the majority) is still self-custodied by individuals.
