Anthropic Faces FUD Backlash: Sibling Co-Founders Awarded Tens of Millions in Equity Spark Controversy
On October 21, the New York Post reported that the multi-million-dollar equity awards granted to Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei and his sister, Company President Daniela Amodei, have sparked significant controversy. It is understood that while both have a base annual salary of approximately $655,000, their total annual compensation including stock and option awards amounts to roughly $18 million and $16.5 million, respectively.
Market observers believe that Anthropic is facing a wave of FUD-driven pressure, which may stem from concerns in traditional financial markets and cryptocurrency markets regarding potential liquidity withdrawal from major IPOs. Neither traditional finance nor the crypto market wants to see another massive liquidity outflow like the one witnessed during the SpaceX IPO.
According to disclosures, Anthropic previously reported a net loss of approximately $80.7 billion for the first half of 2026, a significant expansion from the $13 billion loss during the same period last year.
