EIP-8450 Update: Validator post-quantum key registration now authorized solely by BLS keys, removing execution layer modifications.

Oct 29, 12:13

On October 29, according to PR #12592 on the ethereum/EIPs repository on GitHub, developer kevaundray submitted an updated draft for EIP-8450 (Ethereum Validator Post-Quantum Key Registration Scheme). The draft removes the withdrawal address authorization path, the EIP-7685 request type, the execution layer request contract, and the pending authorization queue, reducing dependencies from EIP-7002, 7685, and 7916 to EIP-7916, and the proposal no longer modifies the execution layer. The BLS signing key becomes the sole authorized entity, enabling key registration and replacement. The default key change interval is 256 epochs (minimum preset is 8, all presets are at least 1).
