Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Reveals Smart Contract Compatibility Risks, Hoodi Testnet Hard Fork Postponed

Nov 6, 18:24

On November 6, Ethereum developer Marius van der Wijden stated that security audit firm ChainSecurity found that the gas billing invariant relied upon by some projects could be broken by the EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 proposals in the Glamsterdam upgrade, potentially leading to smart contract compatibility issues.

Ethereum core developers have decided to delay the Hoodi testnet hard fork until the relevant issues are resolved. The development team is currently collaborating with multiple audit firms to conduct security checks and is calling on smart contract developers to investigate potential impacts to assess whether adjustments to the upgrade specifications are necessary.
