Samsung: AI Chip Demand Remains Strong, Could Worsen Supply Shortages Next Year
July 30th, Samsung Electronics said on Thursday that demand for AI chips remains strong, which could exacerbate supply shortages next year, contrary to investor concerns that heavy investment by major tech companies in AI could slow down spending and curb growth.
Samsung's stock price rose 8% after the earnings conference call, while SK Hynix's stock price rebounded 3%. In a statement, Samsung said, "It is expected that by the second quarter of 2026, demand in the server sector will remain strong due to continued investment in AI infrastructure and the broader adoption of AI agents."
