The EU to Invest €10 Billion to Build Seven AI Mega Factories

July 31st, the European Union launched a tender to build up to 7 AI Gigafactories, with industrial leadership. The EU and member states will provide a maximum of about €10 billion in public funding, expecting to leverage at least €20 billion in private investment (total exceeding €30 billion).

The plan consists of two types of projects (up to 4 of medium scale and up to 3 of larger scale). The tender deadline is November 12, 2026, with the results expected to be announced in early 2027, and operations to commence within 18 months after signing.
