DeepSeek is planning to build a 1GW data center in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia
According to Dynamix Beating monitoring, Bloomberg cited sources familiar with the matter as saying that DeepSeek plans to build a 1GW AI data center in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia. The company will construct its own data center and also rent out computing power to other enterprises.
Part of the capacity is expected to come online as early as the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028. It is currently unclear what type of chips the project will utilize.
At 1GW, the scale will surpass existing Chinese enterprise AI data centers that are already operational, but it will still be lower than the 3GW and 5GW projects planned by American companies. DeepSeek is known for its focus on efficient training computation and is now venturing into building heavy-duty infrastructure.
