SK Hynix Holds Negotiations with Korean Union on Bonus Issue

Aug 4, 11:25

August 4th, Tuesday - SK Hynix and its South Korean union representatives held the fifth round of bonus negotiation at the SK Hynix factory in Cheongju. There is a discrepancy in the generous bonus package between the two parties.

Last year, SK Hynix agreed to allocate 10% of annual operating profit to employees. According to Reuters' calculation, this means that each employee can receive an average bonus of 779 million South Korean won (approximately $547,127) in 2026. The union, in a notice to its members, stated that the management proposed to pay over half of the bonus in the form of stocks and restrict their sale for a certain period.

The notice also indicated that the company wants to adjust bonus payments in case of losses. The union, however, stated that they would absolutely not accept any arrangement that makes union members bear the risk of stock price fluctuations.
