DeepSeek dethrones Google to take the top spot, leading in OpenRouter API calls this week
According to Dynamic Insight monitoring, data from the model aggregation platform OpenRouter shows that the text request volume of DeepSeek has reached 299 million times this week, accounting for 27.1% of the total platform volume, surpassing the long-time leader Google. Google had 277 million times, 25.0%, while OpenAI ranked third with 185 million times, 16.8%.
This list aggregates text API request counts by model vendors. Calls generated by models such as DeepSeek V4 Flash and V4 Pro are attributed to DeepSeek.
DeepSeek's growth is mainly driven by the V4 series. OpenRouter previously disclosed that after the V4 release, DeepSeek's token share roughly doubled in six months, with growth mainly coming from Agent tasks. One month after the launch of V4 Flash, it already accounted for 70% of DeepSeek Agent Token usage. Agents often make multiple consecutive model calls for each task completion, making it easier to increase the request volume.
