Analysis: South Korean PCB Manufacturer's Q2 Performance Surges, AI Servers and SOCAMM to Become Next Growth Engines
August 8th, Citrini analyst Jukan stated that South Korean PCB/substrate manufacturers are expected to continue their strong performance from Q2, with further improvement in Q3 earnings.
Taking Daeduck Electronics as an example, the company achieved a Q2 revenue of 4.01 trillion Korean won, a 63% year-on-year increase; operating profit of 70.3 billion Korean won, a whopping 3,599% year-on-year increase. During the same period, Simmtech saw revenue of 5.146 trillion Korean won, a 51% year-on-year increase; operating profit of 62.9 billion Korean won, a 1,035% year-on-year increase. TLB had revenue of 88.2 billion Korean won, a 38% year-on-year increase; operating profit of 12.8 billion Korean won, an 86% year-on-year increase.
Jukan pointed out that Daeduck Electronics' core strengths lie in FC-BGA and FC-CSP semiconductor substrate packaging boards required for AI data centers, as well as Multilayer PCBs (MLB); Simmtech focuses on packaging boards and storage module PCBs; TLB mainly supplies PCB products for server DDR5 and enterprise SSDs.
He believed that as industry leaders like Taiwan's Unimicron prioritize capacity allocation to high-value ABF substrates and reduce BT substrate layouts, some BT substrate orders may shift to South Korean manufacturers, bringing new growth opportunities for Daeduck Electronics and Simmtech.
Furthermore, Jukan emphasized that SOCAMM is becoming a new growth variable. With NVIDIA's next-generation AI platform, the Vera Rubin GPU, and Vera CPU set to enter the shipping phase, SOCAMM PCB demand is expected to rise, benefiting related suppliers Simmtech and TLB, further driving growth in the AI infrastructure supply chain.
