South Korean Think Tank: Semiconductor Export Surge Drives Economic Growth, Enhancing Economic Outlook

Aug 10, 11:28

August 10 - The Korea Development Institute (KDI) stated in its monthly economic assessment report on Monday that the South Korean economy was showing signs of broader improvement, driven by the semiconductor-related industry. KDI added, "Exports and equipment investment continued to show strong growth driven by the semiconductor industry, while durable goods consumption accelerated overall consumption growth." The institute also stated, "With the service industry maintaining a good development trend and manufacturing rebounding, the entire industry achieved high growth rates." However, KDI pointed out that as the fourth largest economy in Asia, the Korean economy still faces uncertainties including U.S. tariff policies and ongoing geopolitical instability in the Middle East. The think tank also emphasized that South Korea is currently experiencing a high level of inflation and worsening employment conditions, posing challenges to the economy. (FX Street)
