Hormuz Strait Reopening Sentiment Grows, Qatar Boosts LNG Loading Operations

August 11th, Qatar's Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker volume has risen to the highest level since March, indicating that the country is preparing for a potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The daily average LNG tanker volume at the Ras Laffan Port is about 80,000 tons, but this scale is still about 60% lower than the same period last year. Out of Qatar's 14 LNG production lines, 7 show signs of resuming production, indicating a gradual recovery after disruptions due to the conflict.

However, whether exports can fully recover still depends on maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Currently, relevant diplomatic negotiations are ongoing, but there is no guarantee that an agreement can be reached.
