xAI Launches Grok Bot: AI Agent with Its Own Computer, Can Independently Execute End-to-End Tasks Across Applications, Now Available for Public Beta

Aug 12, 08:27

According to Watchful AI Tracking, Musk's xAI officially launched Grok Bot today, positioned as an AI teammate capable of delivering real work. The Bots have their own cloud computer, can log into various tools and applications that users are already using, work independently across mailboxes, applications, and websites, complete tasks end-to-end, and only return to the user when approval is needed. Users can assign tasks to Bots just like messaging a colleague. The Bots will remember the conversation history, learn user preferences, and become more precise with increased collaboration. xAI has already extensively used it as a prototype internally—Sales Bot updates the CRM and drafts follow-up emails, Operations Bot arranges workstations for new employees and processes invoices in Gmail, Engineering Bot reproduces bugs in the UI, submits work orders, and hands off fixes to the Debug Bot. The product team particularly emphasizes the "huge gap between 90% done and 100% done." The value of Grok Bot lies in the work results being in real tools rather than just at the recommendation level.

Users can train the Bot by showing it the operation flow— the Bot observes the steps, remembers preferences, and saves them as a repeatable workflow that can run continuously without the need for re-explanation. Multiple Bots can work in parallel, communicate with each other, with a Chief Bot managing specialized Bot teams. Bots can self-coordinate task assignments and handovers in group chats, only involving humans when judgment is required. Starting today, Grok Bot is available for testing to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribed users on desktop and iOS. Enterprise users can join the waitlist to receive subsequent access.
