Claude Turns Chrome's Sidebar into Cowork: Browser Gets to Work, Mobile Keeps Up

Aug 13, 15:46

According to TrendForce Beating Monitor, Anthropic has upgraded Claude in Chrome's sidebar to a full Claude Cowork session. Now the session will be directly saved to the account, allowing users to start working in the browser and continue on desktop, web, or mobile.

In Chrome, Claude can also directly utilize Cowork's Skills, plugins, and connectors. It can read web pages, click buttons, input content, and fill out forms. When involving local files or requiring Claude to actively manipulate the computer, Claude Desktop still needs to remain connected.

Anthropic expanded Cowork to the web and mobile in July and has now integrated the Chrome sidebar into the same set of cross-device sessions. Cowork has evolved from a standalone desktop Agent to a unified Agent for seamless work across browsers, computers, and mobile devices.

The new sidebar version is currently available to Max and Team users, with Pro set to roll out in the coming weeks. Enterprises will require administrators to enable this feature.
