October 10 - Bermuda-based Bitcoin life insurance company Meanwhile, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, announced the completion of a new $37.5 million funding round, with all funds coming from existing investors. The round was led by Bain Capital Crypto, with participation from Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital. To date, Meanwhile's cumulative funding has exceeded $180 million.

Meanwhile stated that demand for Bitcoin life insurance products in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East has continued to grow recently, and macroeconomic uncertainty has also driven high-net-worth families to seek Bitcoin-denominated wealth inheritance solutions. Co-founder and CEO Zac Townsend said that many wealthy families already hold Bitcoin but previously lacked a regulated way to pass it on to the next generation.

In early 2026, Meanwhile launched BTC Life 1-Pay, a single-premium whole life insurance product for high-net-worth clients outside the United States, following the earlier launch of BTC 10-Pay for U.S. taxpayers. The company said its long-term underwriting net income has already exceeded last year's full-year level and is expected to grow to more than double last year's figure in 2026, but did not disclose specific data.
