October 10 — According to reports by The Hill and Politico, a poll conducted by PF Global in early October shows that 26% of Trump's 2024 supporters believe that if the Republican candidate in their district breaks with Trump, the candidate will have a better chance of winning the November midterm elections. The survey covered a total of 2,001 respondents, with a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.

On specific policy issues, 57% of respondents believe the Republican Party should break with Trump on the Iran war issue, 61% believe it should distance itself from him on economic issues, and 67% believe it should take a different stance on immigration and border control.

The poll also shows that 44% of respondents believe their personal financial situation has worsened or greatly worsened since Trump took office last year; 59% say everyday expenses such as groceries and gasoline have become harder to afford, including 40% of Trump's 2024 supporters.

When asked who should receive credit if Republicans successfully retain their majorities in both chambers of Congress in November, only 22% of respondents believe it should go to Trump's presidential achievements, 29% believe it should go to the Democratic Party's poor campaign performance, 23% believe it should go to the Republican Party's own strong campaign efforts, and another 26% said they were unsure.

As economic burdens and Trump's approval rating become focal points of the election, Republicans are also facing greater competitive pressure in some seats that were previously considered relatively safe.
