BlackRock CEO: If AI data center construction slows, it will drive up computing costs and exacerbate inflationary pressures.

October 21 - Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the world's largest asset management company, warned on Wednesday that if the construction of AI data centers slows down, it could further drive up computing power costs, exacerbate inflationary pressures, and threaten economic growth.

Fink believes that accelerating data center construction can increase market supply of computing power, thereby reducing computing costs more quickly. He further warned that if the expansion of related technological infrastructure slows, the prospects for economic growth could be threatened.

This statement comes as global AI investment faces multiple challenges, including rising financing costs, tight power supply, and opposition from local communities. Some data center projects have already been delayed, and investors are becoming more cautious about the ability of large tech companies to sustain capital expenditure expansion.
