MEXC Responds to U.S. Treasury Cutting Financial System Ties: Engaging with Regulators, Platform Operations Normal

Nov 7, 09:13

November 7 - MEXC posted on the X platform stating that it has noted the relevant order issued by the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) on November 6, 2026, and is currently closely reviewing it with its legal and compliance teams. MEXC stated that the platform is currently operating normally and user assets are safe.

MEXC stated that it will take the relevant allegations seriously and plans to engage in constructive communication with FinCEN and other relevant regulatory authorities and competent authorities worldwide. Meanwhile, the platform has initiated an independent review of its own anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions compliance measures and will continue to release subsequent updates through official channels.

Previously, FinCEN ordered the severing of MEXC's ties to the U.S. financial system, prohibiting U.S. financial institutions from processing fund transfers involving MEXC. FinCEN alleged that MEXC processed at least $16 billion in funds related to sanctions evasion, cybercrime, and other illicit activities between May 2021 and May 2026, involving entities related to Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The order was issued pursuant to Section 9714(a) of the Russia Anti-Money Laundering Act and will take effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated that U.S. financial institutions cannot continue to use the U.S. financial system while supporting the Iranian regime.
