Nvidia $11.4 million worth of goods stolen, including AI chips and computer hardware.
November 8 - According to a report by US media on the 6th, police in Oakland, California, are currently investigating a cargo theft case involving tech company Nvidia. The stolen items are AI chips and computer hardware, valued at up to $11.4 million (approximately 76.1 million yuan). Analysts said this may be a well-planned theft targeting a high-tech company. The case shows that a truck loaded with Nvidia cargo departed from Oakland, California, on August 29 this year, originally destined for Fort Worth, Texas, and the pickup process complied with the original arrangements, but the truck eventually lost contact, and the victim reported it to the police on September 13. Police tracking found that the truck had made multiple stops along the way, with each stop lasting several hours, and ultimately disappeared in San Bernardino County in southeastern California.
As of now, police have not arrested any suspects. Experts also said that the price of these chips outside the United States is nearly twice that in the US domestic market, and it cannot be ruled out that the stolen goods may have already been transported out of the country. It is reported that this is not the first time Nvidia has encountered a cargo theft incident. Experts said that the scale and complexity of such cases indicate that the criminal methods involved are becoming increasingly professional, and the transportation security risks of high-value tech products are gradually becoming prominent.
