Nov 8, 15:45

Nov. 8 — According to TechFlow, citing U.S. media reports from the 6th, police in Oakland, California are currently investigating a cargo theft case involving tech company NVIDIA. The stolen items consist of AI chips and computer hardware valued at up to $11.4 million (approximately 76.1 million RMB). Analysts state this may be a meticulously planned theft targeting a high-tech firm. Case details reveal that a truck loaded with NVIDIA cargo departed from Oakland, California on Aug. 29 this year, originally bound for Fort Worth, Texas. While the pickup process adhered to the original schedule, the truck subsequently lost contact, prompting the victim to file a police report on Sep. 13.

Tracking data shows the truck made multiple stops en route, some lasting several hours, before ultimately vanishing in southeastern San Bernardino County, California. To date, no suspects have been arrested. Experts further noted that these chips sell abroad at nearly double their domestic U.S. price, raising the possibility that the stolen goods have already been shipped overseas. Reports indicate this is not the first time NVIDIA has suffered cargo theft. Experts stated that the scale and complexity of such incidents point to increasingly professionalized criminal techniques, highlighting the rising transportation security risks for high-value technology products.
