Anthropic Co-Founder: AI Could Push US GDP to $44 Trillion, Humanity Has Only Years to Build Defenses

October 18 - According to Coin Bureau, Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark warned that artificial intelligence could push US GDP from roughly $30 trillion to $44 trillion, but humanity may have only a few years to establish effective safety mechanisms to ensure AI does not escape human control.

Jack Clark also specifically cautioned that AI could trigger the so-called "singularity" and called for global rules to prevent AI from being misused in biological research and cyber weapons development. In related news, Anthropic reportedly plans to hold an IPO in November, at which point the company's valuation could reach $2 trillion.
