Survey: Only 13% of Americans Support Candidates Who Push for Crypto and DeFi Development
October 27: According to Eleanor Terrett, a joint survey by the DeFi Education Fund and Ipsos shows that 35% of U.S. respondents believe political candidates should support building next-generation financial technology, but when the question explicitly references blockchain, cryptocurrency and DeFi, that share drops to 13%. 74% of respondents believe the financial system needs to change so that individuals have more control over their assets, yet only 9% said they are very or extremely familiar with cryptocurrency, and only 5% highly trust decentralized platforms. Among those interested in trying DeFi, the top use cases were savings and transfers within the U.S., rather than speculation. Crypto ownership rose 4 percentage points, while usage over the past year was flat at 13%.
