Thai Crypto Payment App WORPT Launches, Allowing Foreign Tourists to Convert USDT and USDC to Baht for Spending

October 27: According to GlobeNewswire, the crypto payment app WORPT has launched in Thailand under the Tourist DigiPay regulatory sandbox. Foreign tourists can convert USDT and USDC into Thai baht, then pay via Thai QR PromptPay, with merchants receiving baht. WORPT was jointly developed by digital asset exchange Waan Exchange (Waanx), which is approved by Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and e-money service provider Wipay, which is regulated by the Bank of Thailand. Partners include Tether, The Mall Group and Visa. WORPT plans to launch a physical Visa prepaid card in mid-November, with a virtual card to follow in early 2027.
