Crypto Industry Spends Roughly $63 Million to Block Sherrod Brown's Senate Comeback

Nov 1, 21:41

Nov. 1: According to CoinDesk, the crypto industry super PAC Fairshake has spent nearly $56 million to stop former Senate Banking Committee Chairman and Democrat Sherrod Brown from winning the Ohio Senate race. Including $7.2 million from the Winklevoss brothers' PAC, industry spending on Tuesday's vote totals about $63 million. Over two years, industry spending against Brown has exceeded $100 million. Polls show Brown slightly ahead of incumbent Senator Jon Husted, but the gap is within the margin of error. Kalshi puts Brown's odds of winning at 68%. Analysts expect that if Democrats retake the Senate, Brown could become chairman of the Agriculture Committee and Elizabeth Warren could take the helm of the Banking Committee, which would affect progress on a market structure bill.
