Codex Usage Details Show GPT-6.2 Astra, Suspected Gray-Release Test

November 1 — Multiple users have posted on X and in developer communities that "gpt-6.2-astra" model records appeared in their Codex usage details, while the model selector still displays GPT-6 Astra. A screenshot from one user shows that about 19.8% of requests were allocated to that model, prompting speculation that OpenAI is running a gray-release test. Some users also said they found no such records. As of press time, OpenAI has not issued an official statement on the matter, and the model has not appeared in the API.
