OpenAI Rolls Out Native GIF Generation for ChatGPT, Launches Images 2.6 Image Model

November 5: According to The Verge, OpenAI is rolling out native GIF generation to ChatGPT, allowing users to create animated images from text prompts or uploaded photos, with controls to adjust playback speed and view and edit frame by frame. The capability launches alongside the new Images 2.6 image model and is available across the web, desktop and mobile versions of both ChatGPT and Codex, while the API adds GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst. OpenAI says ChatGPT and its API together now generate more than 4 billion images per week, up from the roughly 3 billion per week it reported in September.
