OpenAI CFO: This Year's US Midterm Elections Won't Affect the Company's IPO Plans
November 7 — According to CNBC, OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar said in an interview on the 6th (local time) that although the 2026 US midterm elections changed the political landscape in Congress, the company's IPO plans have not been affected. Friar said her team's job is to handle various situations, and she does not believe anything has had a major impact on the company.
Friar reiterated OpenAI's goal of aiming to go public next year. She revealed that OpenAI will not stop investing in large data centers and is trying to redefine these facilities as "compute parks" in order to meet customer demand and continue raising funds. Friar also said OpenAI's business is currently in good shape, with third-quarter revenue growing 70% and enterprise business sales doubling. She looks forward to OpenAI going public, believes that a listing is consistent with the mission of letting everyone enjoy AI, and said, "Why should only institutions get to enjoy these returns?"
