OKX applies to SEC to launch tokenized stock trading platform
On October 5 that, according to Bloomberg, OKX has filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a tokenized stock trading platform. The joint venture OKXICE LLC, established by OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, plans to apply to offer tokenized stock trading for an initial batch of 63 NYSE-listed companies, with relevant issuers permitted to opt out within 30 days prior to the commencement of trading. Last month, the SEC paved the way for blockchain securities to trade in the United States under a temporary exemption framework, mandating that such digital assets incorporate complete shareholder rights including dividends and voting power. The launch timeline for the OKXICE platform depends on the conclusion of the 30-day opt-out period and the satisfaction of other requirements.
