S&P Global Launches Crypto Lending Vault Risk Assessment Framework

Oct 6, 02:09

On October 6, according to Cointelegraph, S&P Global Ratings released a risk assessment framework for digital asset lending vaults. Data indicates that with the growing adoption of on-chain investment products, deposits in this market reached approximately $10 billion in September, a substantial increase from the $150 million recorded just two years ago.

The new framework encompasses six key risk dimensions: portfolio credit quality, liquidity mismatch, curators, blockchain, protocols, and vault security governance. S&P Global clarified that this assessment is solely focused on measuring investor loss risk, does not provide credit ratings or yield metrics, and was intentionally designed without favoring any single risk category.

S&P Global analyst Lisa Schroeer stated that the framework aims to help investors optimize capital allocation by enhancing transparency. The agency plans to publish its first set of case studies in the future and has not yet publicly disclosed the specific list of vaults under review.
