Crypto investment firm Deus X Capital shuts down
On October 8, CoinDesk reported that cryptocurrency and fintech investment firm Deus X Capital has ceased operations and plans to formally liquidate on January 31, 2027, as its underlying investors have decided to pursue independent investment strategies. Its Chief Investment Officer Stuart Connolly will remain to oversee the liquidation transition, with portions of its portfolio business continuing to operate with the involvement of existing stakeholders; Chief Executive Officer Tim Grant will become the CEO of TensorX, an AI-focused startup.
It is understood that the Morton family investors backing Deus X are splitting their investment operations: Shane Morton established Darius, focusing on artificial intelligence (with TensorX as its portfolio company), while Owen Morton and Jason Morton set up 95, concentrating on markets and fintech. Deus X was founded in October 2023, initially managing $1 billion in existing investments and deployable capital. Its investment strategy covered private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund allocations across digital assets, blockchain, fintech, and other sectors, achieving an annualized return of 36.5% since inception.
